Briefs Application Guide

Wetness indicator will change color when the brief is voided in.
• Change according to facility policy.
• Dispose of soiled product according to facility policy.

In-Bed Application

  1. Fully open brief. Roll resident to one side. Position soft side of clean brief against skin. Align top of wetness indicator to resident’s coccyx to ensure correct alignment.
  2. Pull brief up between the resident’s legs with pad snug against the perineum. Smooth side panels across resident’s hips. The front/back of the brief should be even at the waist. Gently move excess skin while positioning the leg gathers in the natural crease of groin.
  3. Fasten the tape tabs. Adjust the panels as necessary for a comfortable, secure fit.

Standing Application

  1. Fully open brief. Fold brief in half lengthwise and place between legs with inner lining against skin.
  2. Open and lift back of brief so top of the wetness indicator aligns with resident’s coccyx. Pull front of brief up between resident’s legs, with pad snug against perineum. Smooth side panels across resident’s hips. Front/back of brief should be even at the waist. Gently move excess skin while positioning the leg gathers in the natural crease of the groin.
  3. Fasten the tape tabs. Adjust the panels as necessary for a comfortable, secure fit.

Seated - Wheelchair Application

  1. Help resident stand, making sure they are stable.
  2. Place brief on the seat, so the resident will sit in the center of brief, positioning the soft side of the brief against the skin.
  3. Sit resident down. Be sure to align the top of the wetness indicator to the
    resident’s coccyx.
  4. Proceed with Steps 2 and 3 (shown above) in the In-Bed Application.
