How We Started
In 1991, Murray Ellis opened a small homecare and medical supply store in Edmonton, Alberta. With the help of his wife, Maureen, a nurse educator, he built a vast network of nurses and vendors.
Providing his clients with same-day service and next-day delivery was important to Murray. In fact, he sometimes took on the job himself! The company eventually expanded to provide niche wound care products, which became very popular among wound nurses saving them time and money.
On the other side of the world, Murray's kids, Denise and Graham, were busy finishing university and pursuing their independent careers. Soon after, both kids decided to return home to Edmonton to pursue a new joint venture. They joined the family business!
This shift created a unique opportunity for the family to come together and expand the business, but it also presented a fair share of unique challenges. Murray and his wife Maureen eventually retired and passed down ownership of the family business to their children.
Denise and Graham built on their parent's vision and expanded the business focus to include veterinary, physiotherapy, and dental supplies. Murray and Maureen are happily retired, but they aren't far and occasionally stop by the office to provide helpful guidance.
